If you live anywhere in the vinicity of North London, you'll probably be aware that Arctic Monkeys played the first of two huge Finsbury Park shows last night (23 May). Apparently, people could hear it from their baths. 45,000 people decided to venture out of their bathrooms though, and flock to the park itself to catch the band, whose recent AM album catapulted them to stardom, in a fairly rare visit to their home country.
As with almost anything with as much hype as this, there was a fairly mixed reaction to the band's first show.
Some, of course, were hyperbolically thrilled by the whole affair.
Pretty sure I just had the best night of my entire life. Arctic Monkeys at Finsbury Park - fucking incredible.
There's a reason why Arctic Monkeys are the biggest band in the world and that Finsbury Park gig is it!!!!
Arctic monkeys at Finsbury park was so good, I'm covered in piss and sweat but I love it
That was possibly the best gig of my life @ArcticMonkeys #FinsburyPark
Some though, were a little disappointed with the setlist.
Arctic Monkeys didn't do When The Sun Goes Down last night :(
Arctic Monkeys good but not great last night, setlist not inspiring. Music not loud enough either #cheery
Arctic Monkeys were okay but didn't play Mardy Bum or When The Sun Goes Down #FinsburyPark #Disappointed
Whilst others were generally just a little bit uninspired.
Arctic monkeys tonight at Finsbury Park. Really enjoyed it but......didn't leave feeling blown away. Don't know what else I was expecting.
I'm so upset like arctic monkeys are my favourite live band but Finsbury park was just not the usually arctic monkeys standard 😭😭😭
..The fact it took us longer to get out of the park than Arctic Monkeys entire set. My legs weren't designed for that amount of shuffling. 💩
