ARCTIC MONKEYS will lead the Shockwaves NME Awards this year with six nominations, including best album and best British band.
The Sheffield rockers will go head-to-head with Kasabian who are also in the running for the above awards as well as best live band, best video and a special new award recognising the bands' generosity towards their fans.
Arctic Monkeys have also been nominated for best track for Crying Lightning, the first single off their last album, Humbug.
Frontman Alex Turner said: "It's a good thing knowing we're still up for these awards.
"Kasabian have said that there aren't any other proper rock bands apart from us and them. I don't necessarily agree completely but I know what they're saying. I think we're just co-existing nicely."
Oasis, who split last summer and won the best band award last year, are up for three accolades, including best British band and best video.
And Muse, who are currently touring the world to support their latest best-selling album The Resistance, are also up for best British band as well as best live band, best album, best live event and best album artwork.
The ceremony takes place at London's Brixton Academy on 24 February.
