Tsk tsk. The Associated Press reports that rapper Beanie Sigel is facing criminal charges for alleged tax fraud. Federal prosecutors in Philadelphia say Sigel -Dwight Grant on all proper legal documentation- made $1.5 million from 2002 to 2004, but filed no tax returns on the income. I can't even imagine how shitty the penalties are for bailing on your tax returns for two years and on that kind of scratch.
Sigel has served time on drug and weapons charges, and for prescription drug use while on federal probation. But he has also led anti-violence rallies in his hometown and spoken to high school students about life choices, so he balanced out his mistakes with some positivity and encouragement, so I can't fault a guy for trying to rehab himself.
Do you think the IRS should cut Sigel some slack for all of his personal problems and his actions to turn the negative into positive by speaking to kids?
