On the surface, Death Cab for Cutie's Ben Gibbard might not seem like the sportiest guy around, but the rocker is the major fan of Major League Baseball. In fact, he even sang the National Anthem at yesterday's National League Championship Series Game Four (Giants vs. Phillies) in San Francisco.

The game was a family affair, with Gibbard's wife (oh, and indie film cutie/the "she" in She and Him) Zooey Deschanel singing "God Bless America" during the seventh inning stretch.

Sports arenas and indie rockers aren't the most common pairing in the world (and besides, all the buzz bands were in NYC for CMJ), so there weren't any collabos with, say, Bon Iver. But in all seriousness, both performances were simple and lovely.
