The Black Keys have refused to allow Spotify to stream their new album El Camino, highlighting concerns many bands have that streaming sites significantly affect their record sales.
Despite this, sites similar to Spotify are hopeful that these fears can be allayed in the future.
MOG spokeswoman Marni Greenberg told the LA Times: "As always, we're just adhering to the requests of the content provider."
A rep for Rdio told Bloomberg: "We're hopeful we'll have the record on our service soon."
Spotify, perhaps unsurprisingly, claim that music streaming boosts album sales, with Ken Parks, Spotify's head of U.S. operations, telling the LA Times: "Artists can - and do - receive very substantial revenues from Spotify, and as Spotify grows, these revenue streams will naturally continue to grow.
"Spotify is now the second single largest source of digital music revenue for labels in Europe, and we've driven more than $150 million of revenue to ... artists, publishers and labels since our launch three years ago."
The Black Keys are expected to sell 175,000 copies of El Camino in its first week, which won't be enough to take it to the top of the Christmas album charts.
