Bob Geldof is not planning to put on Live Aid II despite a report in an English newspaper over the weekend.
The Sun reported Geldof would team with U2's Bono at the request of British Prime Minister Tony Blair to organise the sequel to the world's biggest ever charity music event Live Aid. The newspaper claims Bono will make an official announcement about the event later this week which they say is planned to take place next year on the 20th anniversary of the original Live Aid.
The Sun also reported Radiohead, Oasis, Robbie Williams and Coldplay were tipped to perform for the event.
Geldof dismissed the report and issued a statement saying "I told the Sun this afternoon it was not true. This only serves to undermine the concerted efforts of those concerned with the tragedy of poverty in Africa."
The original Live Aid raises over $US100 million the famine relief in Africa.
