Bobby Brown told concertgoers his comatose daughter Bobbi Kristina "is awake".
The 46-year-old singer made the shocking statement about his 22-year-old daughter, who he shares with late singer Whitney Houston, while performing at a concert in Dallas, Texas over the weekend.
Bobbi Kristina has been in a medically induced coma since the close of January, but in an Instagram video posted by a fan, her father Bobby made a surprising statement to the crowd while onstage Saturday night.
"I can say today, Bobbi is awake. She's watching me," Bobby said, with the packed audience screaming in response to his statement.
The video was posted to Instagram account @iamdmobe and it is unknown what this user's personal relationship with Bobby is.
But @iamdmobe seemed to have alluded to the possibility that Bobby meant Bobbi Kristina has literally awakened from her coma in the caption attached to the clip of the shocking statement.
"Theirs been terrible rumors circulating for months ... @kingbobbybrown would like to share a message with you all … (sic)," the video caption reads. "From our family to yours ... Thank you for all the well wishes and prayers for his daughter #BK .... But let it be known that #GOD holds the glory .... continue to #PrayForBK #Salute big bro and know that #LaFamilia has your back to the end."
Bobbi Kristina's true medical condition remains unconfirmed, as the Brown family have yet to release an official statement on the matter.
Therefore it's unclear as to whether or not Bobby meant his words metaphorically or sincerely.
Bobby's attorney Chris Brown did not offer any clarity on the matter either.
"I am aware of Bobby's statement. No additional comment will be made at this time," the lawyer told Access Hollywood when the outlet asked for clarification on his client's comments.
Bobbi Kristina was hospitalised on January 31 after being found unresponsive in the bathtub of her Roswell, Georgia home.
