Bobby Brown has avoided prison after agreeing to a one year community service sentence, according to reports.
The fallen US pop star and estranged husband of Whitney Houston will escape criminal charges following his arrest last year.
Brown was charged with possession of cocaine in December but will mentor children instead of entering jail after the court ruling in Brockton, MA.
His lawyer, Stephanie Soriano, confirmed the news, revealing that working with youths was "something he wants to do anyway.
"No criminal charges will issue. Mr. Brown will be accepting the recommendation of the court", she said after the hearing at Brockton District Court.
