The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers had to kick start his creative juices flowing by diving into books.
As he was writing for the Killers latest album Day & Age, the Nevada-born star had to get down to the local library to brush up on ideas.
He told US newspaper The A.V Club: "To be honest, I don't read a whole lot.
"I've been struggling with writing lyrics, so I've really been trying to pick up on it."
He continued: "I read [Jack Kerouac's] On The Road for the first time while we were making this album.
"I'm a little late there, but it's been a whole new world for me."
Day & Age is in stores now.
