"The Twilight Saga" has made a full revolution around the "Midnight Sun." Comic-Con 2008 marked the film franchise's unofficial coming out four years ago and now, the series' stars have returned to the fan fest to celebrate their finale, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2," which bows November 16.
The cast, including Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, as well as author Stephenie Meyer, stopped by MTV News' two-hour "Twilight" live stream on Thursday (July 12) in San Diego to chat about the final flick as well as what the future holds for our favorite vampires and werewolves.
Here are five things we learned from the SDCC live stream:
Kristen Stewart Vamps
"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" was full of momentous moments — from Bella and Edward's wedding to daughter Renesmee's birth to Bella's transformation — so what should fans look forward to in "Part 2"? "The standout is Kristen as a vampire," Meyer told host Josh Horowitz. "She's completely changed. It's subtle. It's not this huge shift. If you watch, everything she does is a little different, in a very good way. It's not how I saw it in my head. ... It makes it more fun for me. It'd be boring if it was what I saw in my head."
"It's Like Breaking a Car In"
Stewart herself had plenty to say about her transformation into a bloodsucker, saying that she considers the newborn's first hunt one of the most-anticipated scenes in the film. "It's like breaking a car in," she said. "It's really cool. We went back and did more to make it even cooler."
"The interesting thing is that you're used to the vampires behaving a certain way, and then when Kristen starts doing it, it feels fresh to her," Pattinson chimed in.
The Battle Is Epic
Speculation has been mounting for months (perhaps even years) that the saga's final showdown between the Cullens and the Volturi would be more action-packed than the display of mind tricks from Meyer's source material. And while the actors were a bit aloof as to how this will all play out, Kellan Lutz did offer a tiny tease. "There's a lot more surprises," he said. "It's great that [director] Bill [Condon] has such a genius mind to add to the books and amplify the scenes. The fans are really going to love what we did, what Bill came up with."
Robert Pattinson Licks "Fifty Shades"
We all know Stewart has cracked open a copy of E L James' best-selling novel (loosely based on "The Twilight Saga") thanks to a recent, eloquent elocution. But has a copy made it to co-star Pattinson's bookshelf? "I just sit there and lick the pages," he joked. Remind us to wash our hands when we're done borrowing Rob's copy.
"Twilight" Could Dawn Again
It might be hard to picture anyone besides Stewart and Pattinson portraying star-crossed loves Bella and Edward, but Meyer said it isn't an impossibility. "I mean, I think that obviously could happen," she said about reboot rumors. "In the right scenario, it might be something I'd be excited about ... 15 years down the line."
"We're going to do 'The Amazing Twilight,' " Jackson Rathbone joked, teasing the recent "Spider-Man" reboot. "Andrew Garfield is going to do every role. I'm really excited to see what he does with Bella."
