'Breaking Dawn' Director Asks For 'Respect' For Kristen Stewart

Robert Pattinson is preparing for his first TV appearance since photos of Kristen Stewart and her "Snow White" director Rupert Sanders leaked. fIn the meantime, their "Breaking Dawn -- Part 2" director Bill Condon is opening up for the first time about the controversy.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly the "Twilight Saga" director comments about the scandal.

"The fact is, these are actors playing parts, and maybe it's not such a bad thing that people be reminded of that," the director said. "Both of these actors gave heart and soul to the 'Twilight' movies, not only during shooting, but also by navigating so graciously the whole life-in-a-fishbowl aspect of the phenomenon. Above all they have always shown great respect for the fans who made these movies such a success. Now it's time that some of that respect be returned to them."

Pattinson himself has yet to address it as he moves full-steam ahead with "Cosmopolis" interviews, which include Monday's New York premiere and an interview on "Good Morning America." For her part, Stewart publicly apologized after photos of her kissing Sanders began to circulate. And in that apology she confirmed her relationship with Pattinson.

"This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob," she said. "I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry."

Sanders, who is married to model Liberty Ross, also apologized when the news broke. "I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family," he said. "My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together."

The entire "Twilight" cast is expected to promote the last film as planned, the studio Summit confirmed. The film opens November 16.
