When Eve stopped by Bravo's "Watch What Happens Live" this week, she got the rumor mill spinning. The rapper said she had "heard" that Britney Spears isn't the person singing her vocal on her will.i.amcollaboration "Scream & Shout."
Host Andy Cohen attempted to get real-life Brit and TV chef Nigella Lawson to weigh in Britney's mock British accent on it, but before she could assess her, Eve jumped in. "I heard that might not be Britney," she said on Tuesday's episode. "That's what I heard. But, you know I don't know. It could be Britney, but I heard it wasn't. I don't know though, I don't know."
Well, Spears' team isn't letting the rapper get away with the allegation that easily. They responded to it on Thursday, shutting down the rapper's off-the-cuff remark. "Completely not true," her rep tells MTV News. "Britney absolutely sings on 'Scream & Shout.' "
A rep for Eve had not returned MTV News' request for comment by press time.
While Eve hasn't directly responded to the hoopla over her statement, she did re-tweet this tweet on Thursday, "For the past weeks, blogs have literAlly strived to get @TheRealEve to start beefing by twisting her words. Not working. Lmao."
The same day Brit's team went on rumor control, the remix video for the track hit the streets, getting an official release mere hours after it leaked by Spears herself on Twitter. will spoke to MTV News on the set of the clip, describing it as "turnt up, amplified, maximized, screaming, shouting."
He explained last December, "[Britney] has great energy in the studio; she's a sweetheart, a doll of an artist and just a kind, kind person. And when she's in the studio, nothing matters but the music. So that's a great experience to have and share with somebody that loves music."
