Britney Spears' doctors felt more "comfortable" with the singer signing a year contract for The X Factor.
The pop songstress recently joined the coveted judging panel of the US show alongside Demi Lovato and returning stars Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid.
Britney is still the subject of a conservatorship order following her 2008 meltdown. It means her personal and professional decisions are overseen by her father and her fiancé Jason Trawick, among others.
Her doctors were also vocal in the decision-making of her commitment to the hit show. "The judge handling Britney's conservatorship wanted to make sure that this wasn't going to be too stressful or gruelling for her and that weighed heavily in the negotiations. Britney's doctors felt comfortable with a one season commitment, remember, she is still under a conservatorship, meaning she can't make any business or personal decisions herself," a source close to the star explained.
Those closest to Britney are thinking about her best interests, regardless of her "business" agreement. They don't want the toll of the popular TV series getting on top of her.
"It's no secret that Britney is being brought in to essentially save the show, and she has never done something like this before, and no one can predict what the ratings are going to be. Yes, Britney has been warmly embraced by Simon, but this is a business. Britney's contract does have an option for a second year, but Britney isn't committed under terms of the agreement to come back for another season if she doesn't want to, both sides have to agree to this," the insider added to Radar Online.
Meanwhile, Britney has laughingly denied claims she stormed off during auditions for the X Factor after a contestant performed a bad rendition of Hold It Against Me.
The singer insists the rumours are completely true and she is having a great time on the panel so far.
"Britneywalksoff??? LOL was just taking a little break people. I am having the BEST time!!!" she wrote on her Twitter page.
