Britney Spears' manager, Larry Rudolph, denied Star magazine and Radar Online's reports that boyfriend Jason Trawick hit the pop star.
The reports are based on a supposed phone conversation recorded between Britney's ex-husband Jason Alexander and the 28-year-old star. In the recording, the man asks the woman on the other end of the line if her "fiancé" proposed to her on a beach. The woman pauses before asking, "Before or after he beat on me?" The woman goes on to say, "It is true that he [beat me], but it's not true that I accepted [his proposal]." The recording ends after the woman says, "My dad doesn't want him around me right now. My dad has a shotgun, and he's just waiting to use it."
Rudolph claims that Radar Online and Star are both reporting a "fabricated" story and that legal action is planned. "This is 100 percent not true," Rudolph told Us Weekly. "The recording is not Britney."
Spears and Alexander made headlines in 2004 when the hometown friends got married in a quickie Las Vegas wedding; the marriage was annulled within 55 hours. Spears was married again months later when she tied the knot with now-ex-husband Kevin Federline.
News from Spears has been scarce lately, following her recent guest spot on "Glee" and buzz surrounding her next album, which is rumored for a 2011 release.
