Britney Spears Says Demi Lovato Is 'Cooler Than Me'

If you thought there would be any catfights between Britney Spears and Demi Lovato on the new season of "The X Factor," think again. In a new interview, the two judges can't stop gushing about each other.

"She's a very good judge," Spears told TV Guide in a preview posted on the Seattle Post Intelligencer about the 20-year-old singer. "She toughens me up! Sometimes I listen to you and I'm like, 'Oh, God, I've got to be a little stronger.' "

The lovefest isn't one-sided. Lovato also sings Spears' praises in the cover story as well. "We've done so much to get here. If you want to get here, you've got to put in the work. So I think that's why I'm a little tougher and why Britney's a little tougher. We don't give the horrific metaphors that Simon [Cowell] gives," Lovato said. "I've said from day one, when [Britney] stepped on set, how funny she is. I don't think a lot of people have gotten to see her personality and her sense of humor."

Spears always gives her younger counterpart some props for being on the cutting edge. "The same about Demi. Even though she's really young, she has such a sophistication about her," she said. "She's cooler than me."

When MTV News caught up with Lovato earlier this summer, she shared what it's like to sit next to the iconic pop star.

"It's unpredictable. Like, sometimes I cannot see what Simon sees in the people he puts through. And same with Britney," she explained. "I'm like, 'Britney, what are you thinking?' But there are more times I relate with Britney [better] than Simon, actually. Maybe because we're the two girls on the show."
