The country singer married ice hockey star Mike Fisher in July and the pair are still enjoying the honeymoon phase of their union. Carrie loves being a wife and wants to enjoy some quality with her new husband before she expands her family. She has revealed Mike is also keen to wait before they try for kids.
"Oh, it's going to be awhile," Carrie said in an interview with InStyle magazine. "The other night, [Mike] was with some friends and their kids, and he sent me a funny text saying, 'Watching my friend's kids... Let's wait a while.'"
Carrie went on to reveal she doesn’t have much experience caring for children as she is the youngest of three girls in her family. However, the 27-year-old star hopes that when the time comes for her to have a baby, parenthood will come naturally to her.
“I didn't grow up around kids, and I hope those motherly instincts are in me," she confessed. "I'm sure they are, but I don't know what to talk about with a four-year-old!"
Carrie also spoke about her feelings for Mike, who she met in 2008. The singer – who shot to fame when she won singing contest American Idol in 2005 – has revealed she always knew he was the perfect man for her. “With Mike, there was not a doubt in my head,” she gushed.
