The 27-year-old singer - who married ice hockey player Mike Fisher in a lavish ceremony at the Ritz Carlton Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro on Saturday (10.07.10) – wanted her beloved Chihuahua Ace to be part of the nuptials and had him a special Swarovski crystal-encrusted pink tuxedo made for the occasion.
She told People magazine: "Mike was like, 'He's in pink! What are you doing?' But he looked so handsome."
Carrie wore a Chantilly lace and silk organza Monique Lhuillier gown for the ceremony but changed into a strapless cocktail dress for the reception so she could showcase her dancing skills better.
She said "The wedding dress was huge, I wanted to get my boogie on, so I had to change."
Guests at the wedding –which cost a rumoured $500,000 – included former 'American Idol' judge Simon Cowell and country music stars Faith Hill and Tim McGraw.
Yet despite the celebrity guests, fellow revellers insist everyone was down to earth.
One guest said: "No one had a trace of attitude... Everyone was super friendly.
"It wasn't one of those crazy weddings you hear about in Hollywood. It was a nice party for a nice couple."
Before she married Mike, Carrie had previously expressed her intention to involve Ace in proceedings.
She said: "He'll be one of the ring-bearers. I don't know if I'll give him the actual ring. He would probably run away with it or eat it or something.
"He's like my kid. It would be like if I was getting married and I had a child - of course my child would be in the wedding!"
