Earlier this week, the Hollywood actress praised Michael for the “great strength and dignity” he has shown since he was diagnosed. The 66-year-old actor is currently undergoing radiation and chemotherapy after revealing he is battling stage four throat cancer.
Britain’s Daily Mail are reporting Catherine was recently approached about playing Vivien Leigh in new movie My Week With Marilyn, but is believed to have decided she couldn’t be parted from Michael while she filmed the movie.
Although Catherine was interested in portraying the stunning second wife of Sir Laurence Olivier, she was reluctant to leave Michael’s side for more than a week.
It has been claimed the director is currently auditioning several actresses for the role and is on the verge of casting the part.
Other stars appearing in My Week with Marilyn include Dame Judi Dench, Michelle Williams – who will play Marilyn - Emma Watson and Dominic Cooper.
The film will be based on the true accounts of Colin Clark, who worked as cinema icon Sir Laurence Olivier's assistant on The Prince and the Showgirl, the 1957 hit which starred Laurence and Marilyn Monroe.
