Charli XCX is determined to have a legacy.
The Boom Clap singer may only be 22 but she already has grand plans for the future. She's got tracks with Icona Pop and Iggy Azalea under her belt as it is, and Charli believes she has the perfect platform to make a real change to the world.
"I have a business mind, I have a real drive - I want to have an empire. I want to have more of a legacy, and I think just because I wear what I wear, and am a pop star, doesn't mean I can't have that," she told Maxim magazine.
Charli appears on the cover of the publication, wearing a plunging black dress and with her hair loose and barely any make-up. The shot is black and white and the singer is upside down.
She's obviously proud of it as she has tweeted the cover, plus another simple shot of her in the same outfit and staring at the camera. The singer looks demure in the picture, something she poked fun at my adding an emoticon of an angel in the caption.
In the accompanying interview Charli touches on why she thinks fans can relate to her. She is always honest, which she believes adds to her appeal and will ensure she has longevity.
"I'm not good at being a picture-perfect pop star, happy all the time. If I'm having a bad day, I can't pretend," she said.
That said, she is extremely driven. The star knows what she wants and has ideas on how to get it, and she won't let anyone stand in her way - or tell her what to do.
"Power gets me off. I always want more than I have," she explained.
