Oprah Winfrey has long used her voice to speak out against domestic violence, but even the media mogul has softened her stance on Rihanna and Chris Brown's high-profile relationship. While it is unclear if the two are officially back together, on Friday Breezy dropped a bombshell when he released a viral video confirming his break-up with ex-girl Karrueche Tran and expressing his love for Rih Rih.
The news even garnered a reaction from the Big O, who interviewed Rihanna in August on her "Oprah's Next Chapter" show.
"Is she back with him? I don't know if that's true," Winfrey told "Extra" while she walked a red carpet in Houston, Texas, on Friday.
"I think that if she is prepared to deal with that and is prepared to help him help himself then so be it. I have no judgment about it," Oprah said of Rihanna who first broke up with Brown after he attacked her in February 2009. "That's why I can sit there and have such a great time with her because I do all my interviews with no judgment whatsoever. If that's how you choose to lead your life, that's really OK."
During the "Next Chapter" sit-down, Rihanna revealed to Winfrey that she had been working on her friendship with Brown. "We built a trust again and that's it. We love each other and we probably always will, and that's not anything that we're going to try to change. It's not something you can shut off," she said in the candid interview.
Though Brown had moved on to a relationship with Tran, he clearly is not over the "We Found Love" singer. "Is there such thing as loving two people?" Brown asked in his new viral video. "I don't know if it's possible, but I feel like that."
For now the two stars are maintaining that they are only friends, but all signs point to a rekindled flame. "You know what I loved about that interview is that she came with a big, wide-open heart. She was in the space of forgiveness," Oprah said of her time with Rihanna. "And that she learned a lesson that she was repeating with Chris Brown — exactly what she needed to learn from her father."
