Chris Brown's private jet was forced to make an emergency landing yesterday after the cockpit filled with smoke.
The 24-year-old hitmaker was travelling on a Gulfstream 3 jet to the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala in New York City on Monday when disaster struck.
According to US website TMZ, the aircraft - which was headed for Teterboro, New Jersey - made its way back to Burbank airport in Los Angeles roughly seven to eight minutes into the flight after passengers noticed "smoke filling the plane".
"It was a lot of smoke... everywhere," an insider told the site.
The pilot, who was allegedly "cool, calm and collected" throughout, turned the plane around and performed an emergency landing back at the original airport.
Chris was reportedly undeterred by the incident, and boarded another private jet "within an hour of touching down".
Despite missing the Met Gala, the R&B superstar managed to make it to a star-studded after-party where he was pictured arriving with a mystery brunette lady.
The star - who was dressed in an eye-catching red blazer jacket for the A-list event - seemingly confirmed his split from off-off again girlfriend Rihanna in a recent interview.
The star celebrated his 24th birthday with his ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran over the weekend, and explained Rihanna's absence in a radio interview afterwards.
"Imma do it solo. I mean, at the end of the day, shawty doing her own thang, she on the road. It's always gonna be love. I'm a grown man, just gotta fast forward," he said.
