Chris Brown splashes out on fizz

Chris Brown reportedly spent over $15,000 on champagne in 40 minutes.

The American singer missed the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala in New York City earlier this week after the plane he was travelling on had to make an emergency landing. He did make it to the after-party though, where he was spotted in a bright red jacket.

After the event he decided to continue the festivities at the Griffin nightclub, where he stopped in at 3.30am. He was with a group of around 20 friends, who he lavished with drinks.

According to New York Post the star bought several bottles of $15,000 champagne as soon as he arrived and then "jumped on a table and started dancing shirtless."

Around 40 minutes later he was forced to leave when the venue closed for the evening.

Fellow musician Kanye West did attend the annual Met Ball, taking along his pregnant girlfriend Kim Kardashian. Kanye performed at the event, which had a punk theme this time around.

He has been living in France while working on his new record and fashion line recently and apparently surprised organisers by singing new songs rather than classics from his back catalogue.

"His songs were basically screeching into the microphone," one source claimed to New York Post.

Another added: "Every minute of that gala is programmed, and Kanye went off-program and played whatever he wanted."

Organisers have insisted they were thrilled with Kanye's set.

Florence Welch also attended the party and experienced a hairy situation with her long gothic gown. The black dress boasted lengthy tassels, which became entwined when she sat down.

"She became entangled in the furniture. Her strings and tassels were stuck... she tried to walk away, but the dress started dragging the chairs with her," an insider giggled.

"Her stylist showed up with scissors and started snipping."
