The Hollywood hunk stars alongside the Oscar-winning actor in new movie Unstoppable. The action film is loosely based on the true story of two railway workers who try to stop a runaway train carrying dangerous chemicals. Chris is a huge fan of Denzel’s work and has confessed he was worried he wouldn’t meet his idol’s expectations.
“Man, I was nervous about that,” he said in an interview with the British edition of Glamour. “Knowing that I was going head to head with Denzel for this entire film, it was incredibly intimidating, but like they say, ‘If it scares you, you’ve got to face it.’”
Unstoppable features a string of dangerous stunts, many of which had to be carried out on fast moving trains. Chris admits he was concerned about hurting himself while completing the action scenes and was happy to leave some of the most spectacular stunts to professionals.
“I tried to do as many stunts as I could, but it’s a hairy thing with those trains, because it’s not like doing a fight scene with another person, where you can say, ‘Stop,’” the 30-year-old actor explained. “You’re dealing with three tons of fast-moving train. I hear that Tom Cruise does every single one of his stunts, but I decided if it’s going to endanger my life, I’m giving it up to the guys who know what they’re doing.”
