The 30-year-old hunk starred in the Star Trek remake last year and can next be seen in Unstoppable alongside Denzel Washington. Chris has also landed the role of CIA analyst Jack Ryan and will star in This Means War with Reese Witherspoon, meaning he has firmly cemented his status as one of the hottest stars in Hollywood.
The actor admits he is shocked by his success and still can’t quite believe he has appeared in so many movies.
“I am definitely having some out of body experiences in terms of the luck I’m living out,” he said in an interview with the British edition of Glamour. “A lot of times as an actor, you’re just trying to survive – believe me, I’ve been there – but the roles seem to be coming to me now.”
Chris has revealed he was completely overwhelmed when he attended the Academy Awards earlier this year. He was so nervous about presenting a prize, he decided to consume some alcohol before he took to the stage in a bid to calm down.
“It’s been a remarkable year. The Oscars were absolutely terrifying,” he explained. “Awesome, but petrifying. I was a presenter. And I was downing vodkas in the back praying to God I wouldn’t f**k up.”
Chris insists his rise to fame has been a “slow build” and he hasn’t always enjoyed success. The star went on to recall his embarrassing audition for the lead role in Avatar, which eventually went to Sam Worthington.
“That was my worst audition ever. It was so bad, I remember laughing afterwards,” he admitted.
