Singer Christina Milian is proud she and ex-boyfriend Lil Wayne have managed to be "grown-ups" about their split.
The pair ended its relationship in September (15) after dating for over five months, but Christina and Lil Wayne remain close. The 33 year old rapper appears on the track Do It from Christina's upcoming EP, and the former couple recently teamed up to shoot a music video for the tune.
Christina insists she has managed to maintain a friendship with her ex thanks to their mature approaches to their break up.
"I literally was just texting him a little while ago," Christina said during an interview on The Meredith Vieira Show on Monday (26Oct15). "We shot a video, we were perfectly fine, the chemistry was still there, it's not gone at all. We are grown-ups about it."
Christina and Lil Wayne, real name Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr., ended their relationship due to their hectic schedules, sources revealed at the time.
During her interview with Meredith, Christina confirmed her busy lifestyle was partly responsible for the split.
She added that while they tried to make things work, they quickly realised there was no point in "forcing" it.
"We are still friends," Christina continued. "I think we understand that the relationship is just not working for the moment for us and we are both extremely busy and rather try to force it and make something work that's just not working, we are like, 'Let's just settle and chill out for a second'."
Christina and Li Wayne were first romantically linked in July 2014, but she didn't start speaking about their relationship publicly until May (15).
Since their break up, Christina has been concentrating on the upcoming release of her EP Like Me. She has also been kept busy by her five-year-old daughter Violet, whose father is songwriter The-Dream.
