The multiple Oscar winner’s new film, Hereafter, is about the impact of death on people’s lives and stars Matt Damon as a psychic.
Eastwood insists that he does not want to pass away just to see what will happen to him and still feels he has a lot to live for.
“Even at this point, I can say I sure am not interested in myself going on just yet, just so I can find out what it’s about,” the 80-year-old said.
However, he believes most people are “obsessed” with the topic of death and try to imagine if there is any kind of afterlife. Eastwood says this was his inspiration when he was directing the film, which is released in America later this month.
“The world thinks about what happens after we die, so I started pondering the subject. I began a year ago November,” he added. “Going on yourself or losing those you love is what people are obsessed with.”
The veteran actor was speaking at a screening of the film at Alice Tully Hall, New York.
