Coldplay have announced a new concert DVD and live album of their sixth album Ghost Stories.
The Ghost Stories Live 2014 the band documents a fan only show in 2014 March, two months prior to the albums physical release (and incidentally the same month that frontman Chris Martin announced his conscious uncoupling).
The documentary was filmed by Grammy-nominated director Paul Dugdale. As well as directing Coldplay's 2012 live DVD, Dugdale's impressive CD includes The Rolling Stones' 'Sweet Summer Sun', The Prodigy's 'World's On Fire' and Adele's 'Live at the Royal Albert Hall' (he even went behind the camera on One Direction's 'Where We Are').
Chris Martin said of the release: “The Ghost Stories show at Sony Studios was a very special moment for our band. The magic theatre built by our incredible crew with the 360 screens was literally a dream come true. And it was the first time anyone outside of our studio had heard the new songs. This film is basically our original vision for the Ghost Stories album.”
Selected footage from the documentary was shown on Sky Arts earlier in the year but this is the first time the complete track listing will be available. The release also includes a live album featuring tracks recorded in London (at the Royal Albert Hall), Sydney, Paris, Cologne, New York and Los Angeles over the summer.
The package also features two unseen films for B-sides All Your Friends and Ghost Story as well as director’s Cut of the 'Magic' video (featuring a cameo from Peter Fonda).
