Coldplay have today issued a statement on their website denying in which they deny ripping off the title track from the 'Viva La Vida' album from Joe Satriani.
In a statement published at coldplay.com, the band states, "With the greatest possible respect to Joe Satriani, we have now unfortunately found it necessary to respond publicly to his allegations. If there are any similarities between our two pieces of music, they are entirely coincidental, and just as surprising to us as to him. Joe Satriani is a great musician, but he did not write or have any influence on the song Viva La Vida. We respectfully ask him to accept our assurances of this and wish him well with all future endeavours".
It seems that Joe Satriani isn't happy, however. His lawyer, Howard E. King, has told the Associated Press that they're unhappy with Coldplay's reaction to Satriani's claims and that they'll now be settling the issue in court.
We look forward to the outcome.
