Coldplay offers an explosion of neon color to match their joyful new single in the official video for "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall," which was released on Wednesday morning (June 29).
Directed by Mat Whitecross, the clip opens on a bare cityscape that is quickly transformed by dynamic artwork that mirrors the lyrics of the rock group's "rebel song." As paint begins to fill in the gray areas, the quartet comes together at the 1:40 mark and performs the crescendo in a dark, graffiti-filled room, with frontman Chris Martin leaping around gleefully. For the finale, drummer Will Champion can be seen pounding away at his kit as the building behind him starts bleed new colors.

After premiering the song -- which is not the first single from Coldplay's forthcoming fifth album, according to a rep for the band -- earlier this month, the group released the three-song "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall" digital EP to iTunes on Sunday (June 26). Coldplay will follow their headlining set at the Glastonbury music festival on Saturday with a European festival run before returning to the States for Lollapalooza on Aug. 5.
