After releasing a new single, "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall," earlier this month, Coldplay has posted two new songs -- "Major Minus" and "Moving to Mars" -- on their official website since Thursday night (June 23). Both songs will be included on the group's forthcoming "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall" digital EP, which will be released to iTunes on Sunday.
"Major Minus" finds the group toying with jangle-pop and muddier production, with a playful chorus built around an "ooh oooh" refrain and some extended guitar noodling from Jonny Buckland. By contrast, "Moving to Mars" is a sparse, vocal-led ballad that gathers steam behind a gentle piano line halfway through.
The "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall" EP, which includes only these two tracks and the "Teardrop" single, can be pre-ordered on iTunes everywhere except the U.S. and Japan. Coldplay will headline the U.K.'s Glastonbury festival on Saturday night, and the group is set to hit the States for Lollapalooza on August 5 and Austin City Limits on Sept. 16.
