Coldplay are in the process of buying a London property they will convert into a state-of-the-art recording studio.
The building in Hampstead will also double as an office for members of staff.
The band will use the property as the base for the recording of the follow up to 2005's 'X&Y'.
Earlier this year Will Champion said: "We're trying to find somewhere we can set up and work from. In all of these years working together we haven't had an HQ, our own studio or anything like that. We want somewhere where we can hole up and see what happens."
The Sun reports a source saying: "Coldplay spent 18 months recording 'X&Y' at various studios all over the world. It became a really drawn-out process and it made their home lives difficult.
"Chris has now got two children, Guy has just became a father last month and Will and his wife had their first child in April. So they don't really want to be jetting all over the place anymore.
"They decided it is time to put down roots and have a base that enables them to carry on working without being too far from home."
