The British band, which is fronted by rocker Chris Martin, would be making their first trip back to the festival in Somerset since 2005 and it is claimed they have now signed a deal to perform there.
However rockers The Rolling Stones are not set to appear despite recent reports that they would be.
A source said to UK newspaper The Sun: 'Getting the Stones to Glastonbury has been high on Michael Eavis's list of priorities for a long time. He came really really close this time round.
'He came up with an incredibly tempting offer and Mick and the rest of the band were considering it closely but they ultimately decided to turn it down.'
