Daft Punk Planning Random Access Memories Remixes

Good news for Daft Punk fans bemoaning the dramatic departures (and disco) of the new Random Access Memories album: You're getting remixes.

Yes, though the album was just released, the dynamic duo is already hard at work on a series of re-workings of several RAM tracks, a fact they revealed to BBC Radio 1's Pete Tong.

"We're working on some mixes ourselves," Thomas Bangalter said. "So, yes, there will probably be Daft Punk mixes of Daft Punk. Usually, we never mix ourselves, that's something we feel we're interested in doing this time."

Of course, given the fact the new album is comprised almost entirely of live instrumentation — a point of contention for several folks, not to mention plenty of their EDM contemporaries — remixes seem like the next logical step. And Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo already have their first mix picked out ... and a tentative release date, too.

"The first track we're remixing is 'Get Lucky,'" they told Tong. "That will be out by the end of June."

It's not clear whether Daft Punk will be remixing all of Random Access Memories — or if they'll turn the album over to other artists for re-workings, similar to what they did with their soundtrack to "Tron: Legacy" (or 2005's Human After All album) — a spokesperson for the duo did not respond to MTV News' request for comment at press time.
