Dave Matthews hitches a ride to gig

CNN reported this morning that singer Dave Matthews hitched a ride to his own show after a bike tire blew out.

According to CNN, Matthews went for a bike ride before a Dave Matthews Band show in Hershey, Pennsylvania, when his tire popped, leaving him stranded.

"I did not have a cell phone on the bicycle. So I thought 'shit'," said Matthews.

Enter kind couple Emily Kraus and her boyfriend, who were on their way to Matthews' show when they spotted the star on the side of the road and pulled over. She offered the singer a ride to the concert and made small-talk along the way.

"We didn't know how to make conversation with him," she said.

Matthews paid it back in style, giving the couple a dinner, backstage passes and later giving them front row seats to the performance. He also recounted the event while on stage.

Kraus told CNN the grateful singer had signed the pair's concert tickets.

"Thanks for the ride," read the message.
