Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom to find out who your true friends are, and that's exactly what happened with Demi Lovato.
Back in 2010, the "Heart Attack" singer entered a treatment center for emotional and physical issues, and when she got out, she had a serious "wake-up call."
"A couple of months before I went to rehab, I had a birthday party and there were a couple of hundred people there," Lovato told the June issue of U.K. Company magazine. "It was full of people who I considered my closest friends. When I turned my phone on after being in rehab for three months, I expected lots of text messages and phone calls. I had four texts."
Trying "not to be jaded" Lovato found new friendships outside of the Hollywood, but no matter how hard she tries to live out of the spotlight the gossip still follows, especially with rumored former flame, One Direction's Niall Horan.
"I'm so tired of that! It never happened," Lovato said. "Niall's a really sweet guy and I definitely consider him a friend, but it's never crossed that line... He's a sweet kid and we have an understanding, but we're just friends."
As for now, Lovato is concentrating on her upcoming fourth studio album , set for release this month, and is getting ready for her return to "The X Factor" even if that means she will have to endure more quality time with her frenemy, Simon Cowell.
"He's a grump. An old fart," Lovato said. "But he has a heart that nobody gets to see. If he walked into this room, he'd treat everybody the same — he shakes everyone's hand."
