Demi Lovato doesn't like having to ask for help, but does so if she feels herself "slipping back into old patterns".
The 19-year-old songstress ended up getting treatment in a rehab facility in 2010 as she was battling eating disorders and self-harming.
Demi has since confronted her demons and is a new judge on hit American TV talent show The X Factor alongside Britney Spears. However, the star insists every day presents itself as a challenge to her.
"It's a daily thing; you don't get time off from it," she told the latest edition of US magazine Cosmopolitan. "And if I feel myself slipping back into old patterns, I have to ask others for help, which is hard for me to learn, because I really like doing everything on my own."
As well as her professional projects, Demi is looking forward with her personal life. The single star has revealed where she hopes to be by the time she's 30.
"I want to be married with kids in ten years," she said, before discussing her perfect romantic match: "I don't have many deal breakers. I've done so much in my life, it doesn't feel right to judge other people.
"Oh, I know one quality I won't tolerate. I would never be with a guy who is controlling."
