Demi Lovato Felt 'Pressure' from Hollywood, Says Father

Demi Lovato's father has spoken out about his daughter entering rehab, just one day after a representative confirmed that the Disney star checked herself into a treatment center to address "emotional and physical issues." 

In an interview with RadarOnline, Patrick Lovato said he believes that the pressure of Hollywood had gotten to his 18-year-old daughter. "There are a lot of pressures," he said. "That is one of the things I worried about when she signed with Disney."

Lovato, who dropped out of her opening slot on the Jonas Brothers tour to enter rehab, is reportedly seeking help for an eating disorder and self-mutilation. The Jonas Brothers will not replace her for the remaining dates of their tour. 

Since entering the spotlight at a young age, Lovato has openly discussed her struggle with body image issues and bullying in several interviews. In 2008, speculation arose that the singer/actress was cutting herself when she was photographed with visible marks on her wrists. A spokesperson shot down those reports as "completely false," saying that Lovato was wearing jelly bracelets that "left indentations on her wrist." 

Lovato's father, who split with her mother in 1994, told RadarOnline that the facility where Lovato is receiving treatment is "not a drug addiction center" and maintained a positive outlook. She'll be fine," he said. "She's strong alright."

Disney, meanwhile, has released a statement standing behind Lovato, saying, "We support Demi's decision to put her health first and we send her our best wishes."
