The 18-year-old is currently being treated for 'physical and emotional' issues in Chicago but a source said to E! News she is 'getting better' and is planning to return home soon.
The source added: 'She doesn't want to be in the centre for Thanksgiving and wants to go home.'
It is also claimed Lovato will be watching her friend Miley Cyrus' performance at the American Music Awards on TV on November 21.
A Disney Channel insider added that she will not be returning to work until after the New Year.
