Demi Lovato: I am quirky

Demi Lovato says there are a 'bunch of quirky things' which no one knows about her.

The 19-year-old star went into rehab to receive treatment for bulimia and self-injury last year. After successfully completing the program she's been open about her struggles, in the hope that her story might help others.

Despite deciding to discuss her life in public, Demi insists there are some things about her which have remained secret.

'There are a few things! Some silly things like I can touch my nose with my tongue and I used to have a gab in between my two front teeth. A bunch of silly, quirky things like that!" she laughed.

The singer released her album Unbroken last month, with the first single Skyscraper coming out in July. It was her first top ten debut on the Billboard chart, something Demi is really proud of.

The star is also a successful actress, having appeared in Disney show Sonny with a Chance. However, for now she's more interested in showing off her vocal talents.

'When I perform [Skyscraper], I just try to recall of all the emotions that I felt when I first recorded it, which is a lot. I recorded it during a time in my life when I was going through a lot,' she explained to Parade.

'Over the next year, I just want to continue to tour and have fun with music. Acting will come second. Music is my number one passion and I want to stick to music for a while.'

Although Demi tries to remain positive, the last year has taught her some tough lessons. She's much more guarded with people she meets these days.

'Just be to be careful who you trust,' she replied, when asked what she's learnt. 'Sometimes you don't know who you can and cannot trust. I still learn that over and over again.'
