Demi Lovato: I’m a qualified X Factor judge

Demi Lovato desires for her upcoming record to "back up" her qualifications as a US X Factor judge.

The 20-year-old singer judged alongside Simon Cowell, Britney Spears and L.A. Reid on last season's hit TV singing competition.

Due to her youth, some people suggested that she was too inexperienced to mentor other entertainers.

Demi is preparing for the release of her fourth as-yet untitled studio album and the star believes her new music will silence the naysayers.

"Well I definitely want to back up why I was a mentor on X Factor. I don't want to go on my album and kind of make people think 'Well what does she know about judging?' And I definitely think I'm going to accomplish hopefully a positive response," she told MTV News.

"I just always thought I need to give it my all 'cause that's what my contestants were doing."

Demi is excited for her fans to hear the fresh music.

She hopes that they will recognise how she has matured since the 2011 release of her hit single Skyscraper.

"Well not only does the album say a lot about where I am in life right now [but] like there's follow-up songs. I feel like one is a follow-up song to Skyscraper," she explained.

"I feel like other ones talk about some issues I haven't spoken about. I'm continuing to let out a lot of things therapeutically on my music and I'm very thankful I have the opportunity to do that."

Demi's new single Heart Attack will be the first release off her record.
