Demi Lovato mourns late grandfather

Demi Lovato has mourned the loss of her grandfather, noting her "heart is absolutely broken".

The 23-year-old announced via Instagram Monday 28 September (15) her relative had passed away.

The death of Demi's grandfather marks the second great loss she has experienced within the past few months, as her dog Buddy also died in July (15).

In a tribute to both her grandfather and late pooch Buddy, Demi posted a sweet black and white photograph of them together on her Instagram account, writing in the caption: "My two favorite Buddy's are now playing in Heaven. My heart is absolutely broken and I can't even begin to imagine a world without my Papa but I know one day we'll meet again and that's what keeps me going. I hate writing this... But RIP Papa... I miss you so much already. I love you. Please keep my Mimaw in your prayers (sic)"

Demi did not disclose information on how her grandfather died.

Her dog Buddy passed in a tragic accident, with TMZ reporting the pet was ripped apart by a coyote.

Apparently Demi found his remains while taking a walk in her backyard.

Demi grieved hard over the loss of Buddy, even cancelling an appearance on Good Morning America due to her devastation.

But she and her boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama, who was the co-owner of Buddy, deeply appreciated the support of fans, as their love helped them mourn.

"We can't thank you all enough. This has been the most painful week of my life but because Wilmer and I had so much love and support, I've been able to stay strong and will continue to get through this difficult time," she wrote on Instagram around the time of Buddy's death, referring to boyfriend of five years Wilmer. "The out pour of love and support has been unbelievable and it means the world to us. Love you all tons and ton...(sic)"
