Demi Lovato Stays Strong in 'Skyscraper' Music Video

Like the song itself, the music video for Demi Lovato's powerful new single "Skyscraper" keeps the focus on the 19-year-old singer and her emotional vocal performance. The clip premiered on Wednesday night (July 13), the same day that an intimate interview with Ryan Seacrest, in which Lovato discusses her personal struggles and recent visit to a treatment center, premiered on E! News.

The Mark Pellington-directed video features Lovato alone in a desert, trying to remain calm as the wind blows through her brunette hair. "Go run, run, run/I'm gonna stay right here/Watch you disappear," the Disney star sings after she walks on broken shards and a glass case holding a red heart shatters in front of her.

"Skyscraper," which premiered early on Tuesday morning, showcases Lovato's newfound resilience after she entered a treatment facility for "physical and emotional issues" resulting from an eating disorder and self-cutting. "That video was an emotional release for me, like therapy…I kept crying, I was so emotionally invested...That's when I realized, that's what music videos are all about," she says in the interview.

The single, which was produced and co-written by Toby Gad, precedes Lovato's forthcoming third album, which is set for a fall release on Hollywood Records.
