Overview
The 21-year-old actor is joining the cast of More As This Story Develops, which already includes Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer, Alison Pill, Sam Waterston and Olivia Munn.
The show is centred on cable news and Patel will be a series regular who works at a cable news channel.
Patel was last seen in movie The Last Airbender and is also well known for his role in Slumdog Millionaire.
The show's pilot is set to be directed by Greg Mottola with Sorkin, Alan Poul and Scott Rudin as executive producers.
