Drake breaks silence on Amanda Bynes controversy

Drake is distancing himself from the onslaught of bizarre tweets he's received from Amanda Bynes.

The rapper has been the subject of scathing insults, over-the-top compliments and whiplash inducing remarks published on the former child actress' verified social media account.

The troubled star in March tweeted she wanted Drake to "murder my vagina".

She has also called him the "man of my dreams" and "fugly" and said he looks like he has Down syndrome on the website, often tweeting his handle directly.

While he admits the remarks are disturbing, Drake says he doesn't even know who Amanda is. He's also not convinced the Twitter feed is authentic.

"I don't even know who that is doing that or what that's about," he told XXL magazine.

"If that is her, I guess it's a little weird and disturbing. It's obviously a behavioral pattern that is way bigger than me. Whoever is behind it, whether it's her or somebody else, they know people are paying attention so they keep it going," he reasoned.

Amanda continues to make headlines with her erratic behaviour.

She was put on an involuntary psychiatric hold at the end of last month after she was reportedly arrested for staring a fire in a residential driveway in Thousand Oaks, California, according to Radar Online.

Ventura County police told Cover Media Amanda would not face charges in the incident.

The 27-year-old star's mother, Lynn, has meanwhile applied to become her temporary conservator, according to reports, and Amanda's medical diagnosis is expected to be reached any day now.

Drake is dusting off the controversy he's involuntarily become tangled in.

The lyricist says he's simply focussed on the September release of his new album, titled Nothing Was The Same.

"I think I am going for it, to really establish what are murmurs or things being said quietly, 'Um, I think that Drake might actually…' On September 17th I want people to be like, 'Oh, we were right.'" he said.
