Drake has been sued over the opening monologue of his Nothing Was The Same Track 'Pound Cake/Paris Morton 2'.
The rapper sampled late jazz musician Jimmy Smith's 1982 track 'Jimmy Smith Rap' for the Jay-Z assisted song, and the liner notes of Nothing Was The Same indicates the sample was properly licensed.
However, Jimmy Smith's estate says otherwise, claiming Drake never asked for their permission to use the spoken word sample, and are suing Drake and his label Cash Money for $300,000.
Drake's camp are yet to respond to the lawsuit - $300,000 is probably nothing more than pocket change to Cash Money, who also represent the likes of Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj and Busta Rhymes.
