Drake Toasts Grammy Win With 'Started From the Bottom' Video

wasn't present to give an acceptance speech when he won his first Grammy award ever at the pre-televised event in Los Angeles on Sunday (February 10). Instead, he just decided to drop a celebratory video.

"I dropped a new video about 20 minutes ago. We won a Grammy for Best Rap Album," the Young Money MC told correspondent Sway Calloway as he walked the red carpet.

The visuals for "Started From the Bottom" is as ostentatious as the song's title suggests. In the clip, Drake rides a drop-top Bentley in the middle of a blizzard, pilots a private jet, races golf carts, dances in a "Soul Train" line and takes his homeys on vacation to the Dominican Republic, while his "HYFR" lensman Director X mans the camera.

When Drizzy first dropped the Mike Zombie-produced single on February 1, many wondered what "Bottom" the former "Degrassi" television star was referring to, but now that he's gotten a chance to present the song's visual, Drake's rise to the top becomes just a little clearer. The clip opens on a Toronto soccer field, as a kid, who kind of resembles a young Drake, scores the game-winning goal, bringing his team to victory. On Take Care, the rap star's now Grammy-award-winning LP, Drake took significant steps bringing his OVO crewmembers to the forefront and this new clip continues the trend.

"Started from the bottom now my whole team here n---a," he raps while dancing alongside a moving Bentley that a member of his team drives.

Now Drake's rise to the top of rap's ranks is starkly different from the likes of 50 Cent, who was infamously shot nine times, or DMX, who was raised in a group home, but it doesn't make his journey any less significant. In one of the video's storylines, Drake and two of his boys goof off while working at a pharmacy, where the rapper eventually gets promoted to night manager. It's a comedic twist in a video which otherwise is filled with vainglorious rap stunts and Drake's friends are just as excited about his promotion as they are about his rap success, throwing confetti in the toothbrush aisle.

To toast to his rap success, Drake takes 40 and the rest of his crew to D.R. for more celebration as they dance with bikini-clad beauties, smoke from a hookah, take fully-clothed dips in the pool and now they're here.
