The 'Over' rapper remembered how he was in New Orleans when he was approached for the first time to buy an illegally made copy of one of his mixtapes.
He told MTV news: "I truly enjoy these moments, especially being in New Orleans.
"There was the first place I ever really realised my music was getting out there. I remember walking outside the W hotel, and there was a guy out there selling mixtapes and he had 'So Far Gone'.
"I couldn't believe it. I wasn't even mad. You usually think you'll be mad when there's a bootlegger, but I was super excited."
The 24-year-old rapper is presently working on his second album, 'Take Care', on which he is hoping to collaborate with Florence and the Machine and producer Jamie Smith from the band The xx.
Speaking of the latter, Drake said: "The praises I'll sing most is definitely The xx and Jamie, and we're working on 'Take Care' together. Jamie is probably one of the most exciting producers I've ever heard."
'Take Care' is expected to be released next year.
