Award-winning producers and promoters DHP Family will bring a Nordic aesthetic to Hackney Central this month with an ambitious new 600-capacity venue in the distinctive space of the former railway station ticket office on Amhurst Road.
Combining inventive food and craft drinks with a creative and exciting music programme, Oslo will be the perfect destination for daytime socialising, live music and partying through to the early hours. With 7000 sq ft of space and a late-night weekend closing time of 3am, the venue will provide a unique contribution to the local scene when it opens on 17 January.
The upstairs venue will boast line-ups of emerging talent presented alongside established artists whilst the club nights will be carefully curated to reflect and enrich the electronic music scene in east London. A state of the art sound system from L'Acoustics means Oslo will provide a quality live music experience. The programming will reflect the forward-thinking ethos of Oslo as well as the heritage of DHP Family, who will bring their knowledge and expertise in live music to dynamic Hackney.
Throughout the opening weeks, Oslo will present two live shows from the folk band Dry the River, and music from burgeoning talent MTand experimentalists Chrome Hoof. February will see Oslo host the NME Awards Tour featuring Birmingham four-piece Superfood. Gigs from synth-pop star Indiana, as well as performing artist and model Chrysta Bell and indie folk trio, Peggy Sue follow in the coming months.
Setting the bar high, the inaugural Saturday night on 18 January will see eclectic electronic DJ sets from World Unknown's Andy Blake and Mr Wonderful of NTS. Future Saturday nights will come from Leisure System, Future Brown, Standard Place and Dollop.
Friday nights at Oslo are all about great music to celebrate the start of the weekend, from soul / disco classics / 90's RnB / guitar driven cult hits and everything in between. Valhalla will be hosted each week by the notorious Nimrod, so expect very special guest DJ's sets, visuals and much more each week.
