English singer Ellie Goulding is penning some tracks with One Direction heartthrob Niall Horan.
The two stars are some of Britain's most famous exports, with their musical offerings filling charts around the world. Niall's band One Direction will soon be taking a well earned break, but the cheeky Irishman won't be resting for too long as he is allegedly planning on releasing some solo material, and former flame Ellie is going to be right there with him.
"I'm going to write with him," she revealed to Britain's The Sun newspaper. "He's a really good guitarist and he's funny, cheeky, really cool. He's been my friend for quite a few years so I'm really up for it."
Niall's bandmate Harry Styles will also reportedly try his luck as a solo star, while Louis Tomlinson has expressed an interest in TV - possibly helping out his label boss Simon Cowell on the UK X Factor. It's unknown what path Liam Payne will pursue at the moment.
Earlier this year (15) Zayn Malik quit the band to pursue his own musical career, but Ellie doesn't think fans should worry too much as she is sure they'll all dazzle as soloists.
"They've got years ahead of them. They can all sing and I don't know about you but I love every song they release," she smiled.
"I think they've got amazing taste in pop songs and they work with the right people so I think they could all succeed."
Niall has also been doing his best to assure fans that 1D aren't folding and that new music awaits them in the not too distant future.
He also apparently hasn't been informed about the Ellie collaboration.
"Unless someone is lying to me, there are no solo projects lined up," he told Britain's Metro newspaper. "We love what we do and I don't think anyone's got any hidden agendas.
"(I'm planning) a wee bit of travelling, a good bit of golf and to see friends and family. (If I get in the studio) I won't be writing for anything in particular but, if a song's there for our next One Direction album, I'll pass it on."
The British band's latest record, Made in the A.M., hits stores today (13Nov15).
