Right from his first appearance at the X Factor auditions it was obvious that Eoghan Quigg would go far. Impressing the judges and voting audience week after week with his natural charm, pop star looks, and impeccable vocal talent, he made the whole thing look easy. It rapidly became apparent that here was a singer with the gift and determination to go the distance in the competition, and in the wider pop arena. Having made it all the way to the final, Eoghan was pipped to the post, but won praise for his extraordinary performances across the series, and it was clear that audiences at home wanted and needed to see more of this exceptional young man.
The young star's impressive performance is the result of a lifetime passion for singing and an indisputable dedication to his craft. Having sung along to Disney films from the tender age of two, Eoghan first discovered a real love and talent for singing in his school choir. Fast forward a few years and the 16-year-old was performing in front of millions of people on The X Factor, and has now landed a record deal with RCA Records, the home of pop superstars like Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Will Young. Understandably, Eoghan is over the moon.
Luckily, Eoghan's considerable fanbase, whose loyal voting propelled him to the final of the competition, will not have too long to wait before his debut album hits the shops. The lead track is '28,000 Friends', a power-pop anthem about the ups and downs of love and longing in a social networking world, and harking back to the guitar-driven sounds of Busted in their hey-day. In addition the self-titled album 'Eoghan Quigg' offers fans brand new versions of songs Eoghan performed on the X Factor, including 'We're All In This Together', 'Ben' and 'Never Forget'. The album is released on April 6th.
Before the release of the album, Eoghan is taking part in the spectacular X Factor live tour, playing to packed arenas all over the UK, and recreating his most loved performances from his time on the show. Following this, he has been confirmed as the Special Guest of pop legends Boyzone as they play a series of shows in their native Ireland, following a personal invitation from Ronan Keating and his bandmates.
Eoghan has already had a taste of chart success, having reached the top of the singles countdown, alongside his fellow X Factor contestants, with the charity single 'Hero'. With an incredible year behind him, Eoghan is now looking to the future and can't wait to release his own debut single and album.
The album "Eoghan Quigg", including "28,000 Friends" will be released by RCA Records on April 6th 2009.
